Teen Violence

Every day, approximately 13 U.S. teens are victims of murder, and 1 in 4 high school students report being in a physical fight.

The Signs Are There…

You interact with a lot of different people and situations, some of these situations may present itself as a violent situation. Examples of violent situations include:

 

  • Dating violence (stalking)

  • Gang violence

  • Domestic violence (physical violence with a partner)

  • Bullying (physical of cyber)

If you or someone you know is, or has been, involved in a violent situation, here are some tips to help:

  • Don’t be afraid to reach out to a friend who you think needs help. Tell them you’re concerned for their safety and want to help
  • Be supportive, listen patiently and be respectful of their decisions
  • Connect your friend to resources in their community that can give them information and guidance
  • Help them develop a safety plan
  • Even when you feel like there’s nothing you can do, don’t forget that by being supportive and caring, you’re already doing a lot
